It doesn't matter to goodness whether the thing we were apprehending would be a god anymore instead of a devil..which is, I guess(?), the "bad" version of a god. Implying that you have a standard that -you- hold gods too.
That you both now apprehend and discuss the question as some sort of trap rather than a softball pitched at you - suggests to me that neither of you feels confidently about the proposition that what is good is whatever flows out of gods whatever...and why should you?
