Yesterday I called my closest cousin in age. Though I am five years older, he and I loved being at our common grandparents' farm when we were kids and we remained fairly close for a long time. Then geography kept us apart as much as did his born againedness. Last time I saw him was in 2009 when home for my dad's memorial service and I picked up on the god speak.

I am sorry that his second wife, who he was with for 30 years, died. I only met her one time but I feel bad for him and I know his two kids were close to her.

But...we talked for 15 minutes and he brought up Jesus, religion, and prayer roughly 857 times. UGH.

I remember him when he was a fun guy. I am glad he quit drinking...people used to call him Otis (Andy Griffith show reference) it was that bad even as an older teen. But he switched his alcohol and cocaine addictions to food and god. He is now overweight and preachy. I suppose whatever works for him but it was an exhausting call.
