A friend of mine just texted me one of those stupid inspirational quotes....."Sometimes it is good to be in uncomfortable situations because it is in finding our way out of such difficulties that we learn valuable lessons".....man that's fucking stupid. Doesn't make any sense at all. You're telling me, that if I got kidnapped and locked in someone's basement, it would be a good thing because if I escaped, I would have learned a valuable lesson? How does this even begin to make sense? It's really just a pathetic cope.

LOL, taking the idea to such an extreme is an excellent way to dismiss it. But surely you realize that the quote applies to the regular, more practical hardships of day-to-day life, right? Not fucking torture and kidnapping. 

But you wouldn't be able to immediately dismiss the advice out of hand if you acknowledged that, right?
