Things have changed. When I worked as a mechanic and managed a gas station, I was free to tell people to take a hike if they were a problem as a customer. We had our share of Karens, as they are called now. They got nowhere with me. Retail sucks now, based on my son's experiences.
That's what comes of reinforcing bad behaviour.
Customer: 'I'm unhappy for a completely pointless and stupid reason.'
Business: 'Oh, we're so very sorry. We'll comp this purchase and here's a gift card you can use on your next visit.'
