It should be required reading throughout high school. I can think of no faster way to kill a religion

Except, reading alone isn't a direct line to comprehension. Not all readers possess critical thinking skills.

Comprehension isn't the point. Boring them silly until they want nothing to do with the fool religion is the goal. I'm fondly recalling all the Shakespeare that I had shoved down my throat that way. Assign a book a week every week and you won't make it halfway through the first term without the overwhelming majority of your students resorting to the cleansing powers of fire.
