Quote:Radiation levels spike in New York spark conspiracy theory involving nearby drones spotting
Recent spikes in radiation levels across New York have prompted a slew of conspiracy theories linked to the sightings of drones across US skies.
Reports claim the Geiger Counter World Map recorded radiation levels of around 200 counts per minute (CPM) in the past week in the New York and New Jersey metro area.
One area in the Bronx appeared to clock a radiation reading of 1048 CPM, prompting concern about what caused the radiation increase and what’s being done about it.
CPM readings can vary massively depending on the device, but according to the Radiation Network, anything between 5 and 60 CPM is considered relatively normal.
Higher than typical readings of over 100 CPM suggest elevated levels of radiation that should be investigated and could potentially impact human health depending on exposure time.
Lawyer and political commentator Gordon G. Chang also speculated on Forbes Breaking News that the drones could be “looking for an implanted nuclear weapon,” tied to the radioactive spikes.
He continued: “US officials have been worried about the North Koreans taking apart a [nuclear] device, smuggling the parts into the United States and reassembling it in the location of their choice.”
One former Navy official told Joe Rogan: “there's not a loose nuke or other type of weapon of mass destruction that these objects are pursuing right now.”
Other theories also suggested that the drones were looking for leaked radioactive material, with one local mayor claiming that a shipping container with traces of radioactive materials was found “empty.”
However, that’s also since been dispelled by a representative for the Nazha Cancer Center, who sent the shipment.
At the time of writing, the Geiger Counter Map didn’t display any ongoing increases in radiation, with levels generally sitting below 30 CPM.
The map also didn’t display any readings at all for the Bronx area that previously recorded the spike.

teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"
