This was absolute cringe to watch:
I mean the whole press conference was, but that in particular. First Trump's evasion, then Starmer's... I don't even know what to call it... overplaying his hand I guess, then Trump's comeback.
I mean I'm glad that they're at least superficially on the same side, but that seems about as far as it goes to me... there doesn't seem to be much in the way of real mutual respect there. I hope I'm wrong, but that's how it seemed. It did go better than I was expecting though, and I didn't envy Starmer's task in having to have that meeting, but he still really rubbed me up the wrong way in his approach to it.... just constantly bigging up the so-called special relationship between the US and UK, which I doubt very much exists any more despite what they superficially said here. I was really hoping this would be a turning point for me on Starmer, but sadly it wasn't.
