Sorry, I'm just legitimately curious as to why you think it isn't.
Since 1604 my Norman, Swiss, Aquitanian, Scottish, English, and Ashkenazi Jewish direct ancestors that settled in Acadia have lived in these lands; since 1532 my Catalan and Sephardic Jewish direct ancestors have been in Guadalajara; since the early 1830s and the 1860s my direct Irish and German ancestors have been in the South, and since 1909 my Sicilian ancestors have been uh... doing things...
Older than that, my Mi'kmaq ancestors have lived in this land since the Giver of Life first brought us here - since Grandfather Sun and Mother Earth have nourished and blessed us; I actually don't know enough about my indigenous Mexican ancestors, but my family fled from there a long time ago and lost that identity for the most part other than generic historical demographic knowledge and my mom's last name. Americanized completely.
Over that 421 years my European and Semitic ancestors built countless colonies - in Acadia we we're refugees living in peace for over a hundred years with the indigenous tribes before genocide at the hands of the English and the Americans killed 1/3rd of my people and forced us to the swamps of Louisiana; in Guadalajara violently conscripted into countless wars of genocide against Native Americans, Catholics, Texans - finally fleeing the liberal dictatorship of Benito Juarez in the 1850s; and in the South we were exiled further West after 500,000 European mercenaries & conscripts as well as 1.5-1.6 million Yankees butchered over up to a potential 850,000 Southern Civilians... followed up by massive starvation amongst both the white and freed slave populations and up to 200,000 Southern kids being sold to manufacturers and mines via the Orphan Train forcing anyone who could to get as far away from the Federals as they could.
We've stitched up soldiers of those same nations as doctors countless times since; served as Burgesses of Virginia and dirt-poor share-croppers in Iberville Parish; fought valiantly as officers and grunts with decoration in the Revolutionary War, World War Two, Korea, Vietnam, Desert Storm and the GWoT and ran multiple multi-state businesses for centuries before the industrial revolution and it's machines ruined us economically - still, we fought for our wealth, ran a humble local business/taught public school, and got by until the 2000s financial crisis and the death of my father.
Given the lineage I have to this land, I have a particularly fond desire to see it's history preserved and it's people continued to allow to live in peace and prosperity - in a less personal way, I do still remain a subject to the American Empire and have a very pragmatic reason to see it's traditions and political systems remain intact for my own safety as an ethnic minority in my own nation (TX/LA/OK/AR/MI) and soon-to-be a minority in "my" own empire (the USA) - I don't want to see Islamic extremists establish settlements in my homeland where they will traffic sex slaves and radicalize our youth; I don't want to see any of the wide range of enemies "my" empire has made at the nation-state and international-militant level use bribery, coercion and other acts of corruption to influence our national security interests; I don't want those who hold me "guilty" for the color of my skin to feel emboldened by their new power to carry act outs of genocide against my people that will destroy the last legs our nation stands on and descend the world into total darkness for the next thousand years.
I ask you again - why wouldn't it matter?
