Good news! Another one has seen the light.
Quote:Son of Sam Killer David Berkowitz Has Found God in Prison, Believes He’ll Go to ‘Heaven’
In an interview with The New York Post from the Shawangunk Correctional Facility in Ulster County, New York, the 72-year-old serial killer declared that he has found Jesus and believes he will one day go to heaven.
“My home is in heaven, not in the Bronx,” Berkowitz wrote in an email sent to the outlet earlier this week.
Berkowitz, who terrorized New York City in the 1970s by killing six people, said he found Jesus while serving his prison sentence. He has been incarcerated for 48 years.
According to the outlet, Berkowitz skipped a parole hearing earlier this month because he believes he is “already free” and said the “only place” he’s interested in going “is to heaven to be with the Lord.”
This month’s parole hearing would have been his 13th parole bid since 2002, but Berkotwitz is no longer seeking release.
“I opted not to attend. Right now, I have other things to do, which I feel are more meaningful,” he said.
Decades after his crimes, the Son of Sam now preaches the gospel to fellow inmates and oversees a prison congregation, which he described as his “work in prison.”
“These men need guidance and encouragement,” he claimed. “I am an elder, and this is my calling.”

teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"
