The government must not have been too concerned about protecting their '80-year coverup' being that they let him publish his stupid book rather than disappear his sorry ass.
My takeaway from all this isn't so much about people wanting to believe in aliens as it is that they actually believe ANY government can keep a secret for 80 years.
