This weekend aliens are in Illinois.
Quote:UFO fans descend on Livingston’s Pink Elephant for annual festival
Close encounters of the nerd kind took place Aug. 29 as extraterrestrial fans descended on the Pink Elephant Antique Mall in Livingston for the UFO Festival, a two-day event featuring alien-based experiences.
The fifth annual celebration included otherworldly oddities mixed with family fun, food and Route 66 themes for a unique visitor vibe whether you came from near or way, way afar.
Rose Ceja, of Denver, Colorado, was actually born in Roswell, New Mexico, which is ground zero for many UFO fans. She was visiting her granddaughter in nearby New Douglas and decided to see how the Pink Elephant compared with Roswell for alien authenticity.
“These kinds of things are fun to attend, and I think I’d be a believer anyway even if I wasn’t from Roswell,” Ceja said, and added that if a “real” alien walked by she’d “invite them to dinner and have them teach me what I don’t know about them.”
Alien figurines in all shapes and sizes could be found at a booth operated by Richard Mathias, of Brighton, who “grew up watching the X-Files” and is “a little bit of a believer.”

teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"
