Ron Paul on the environment - from his website:
1.) Would eventually wreck wherever they were drilling or digging. That's how it went before we started putting up environment protections. There is no reason to think that companies wouldn't revert back to whatever was the cheapest way to do things even if they are the dirtiest.
2.) A stopgap at best. Hope you like really crappy highways.
3.) Roadblocks being things that protect the environment from pollution. I could get behind more safe nuclear power plants though.
4.) This is the most laughable. He thinks it's a good idea to pit small landowners against mega corporations. You know the ones that can (& will) stretch out the legal proceedings until you die or run out of money.
Ron Paul on abortion:
"“I talk a lot about right-to-life,” said Paul, who called it “the most important issue of our age.”"
The fact is, however, that most anti-drug laws and most drug law enforcement happens on the state level, and the President Paul won’t be able to repeal federal drug legislation without backing from Congress, which won’t happen. Like any president, President Paul will need to work with members of Congress and will need to set priorities. The abortion-banning movement clearly has a lot of support in Congress, and I think we should take Paul at his word that his top priority as president will be to work with those forces to try to ban abortions.
I think that's all that needs to be said there.
Consumer Protection has less to do with the economy & more to do with poison baby formula, rancid drywall & lead based toys from China. That is the free market at work (just like the 1800's!) Uncle Ron is way cool with all this because he thinks individual consumers should just sue the companies in question. Nevermind the fact that they are in a different country & now under a new name. We are supposed to be able keep tabs on all that.
I'm not going to get into race or healthcare because it appears Dr. Paul has learned a bit from his past blunders in those departments. Maybe you can teach an old dog new tricks?
Quote:1.) Remove restrictions on drilling, so companies can tap into the vast amount of oil we have here at home.
2.) Repeal the federal tax on gasoline. Eliminating the federal gas tax would result in an 18 cents savings per gallon for American consumers.
3.) Lift government roadblocks to the use of coal and nuclear power.
4.) Eliminate the ineffective EPA. Polluters should answer directly to property owners in court for the damages they create - not to Washington.
