I tend to agree with you that happiness is also a factor in successful social systems.

As I have mentioned before, there isnt just one single "socialism" out there. there are MANY types, all being categorized under authoritarian or anti-authoritarian. You have communism, state capitalism, syndicalism, anarcho-socialism, Trotsjyism, Marxism, Leninism, european socialism...
Which "pure" socialism are you talking about?
