Just to be clear, my above post was not arguing in favor of Christianity. Anyone familiar with my posts knows better already but I just wanted no misunderstanding for any newcomers.
My point is that at least Christianity gives me something TO debunk. Sure it's all bullshit that won't bear close examination but at least you've got something to examine. With Islam, you've got nothing to look into but a bare assertion that goes beyond even the typical special pleading of other religions.
Biggest difference between Islam and Christianity.
Christianity offers bullshit.
Islam offers jack-shit.
Summary:
"Look! It's so beautiful! It must have a divine source!"
Shakespeare's poetry was beautiful too. Was he a prophet?
Get back to me when you have something more to consider.
Beyond the fallacy argument from authority (i.e. "This smart guy says it's true so it must be") we have what is called "confirmation bias"
Here's how the logical fallacy works:
1. Take a prophecy
2. Look back at some event or discovery since.
3. Try to retroactively interpret the prophecy to fit the event or discovery.
You can do it with any holy scripture of any religion. You can also do it with horoscopes and Nostradamus quatrains. I once, as an experiment, did it with my monthly Dilbert calender. The human brain can cherry pick what has happened or has been discovered and in retrospect, reinterpret the passage (or cartoon) to fit.
It's a logical fallacy. A mental slight of hand. It proves nothing. Next?
