As I pointed out several pages back, respect has to be earned; you can't simply stroll in and demand it just because you think you deserve it. Well, you can, of course, but then you leave yourself wide open to the sort of derision you're complaining about.

I'm not demanding respect. Though in a discussion, you need to be respected. I have respected others, why haven't they done the same for me?

Like I said, in sports, you respect your opponents. Similiar case here.
