Sweden. And a lot of people believe in gods because they are uneducated, the bad thing about 1st world countries is that they know better and pretend like there's no evidence for things like Evolution or that it's a theory in the colloquial sense. The world is getting educated faster than ever before with the advances in technology and it'll only get better. I am the one being optimistic saying that reason will trump faith in the long run.
I have to agree with Hitchslap on this one. The internet alone has made so much information available supporting atheism and deconstructing religion (namely Christianity). The younger generations are closest to this explosion of open communication and 'atheist' media. They are also increasingly secular and further removed from religious upbringing. Within 100 years at least half the world will openly be atheist, there will always be some 'closet' atheists to add to that lot, and a whole bunch of fringe believers. Fundamentalism will be very rare and more and more marginalized. But this is just a projection of the way things OUGHT to go. Just what kind of political/propaganda interference or global catastrophes that can alter this trend are also a huge variant factor. For example, WWIII or anything that has the capability to reduce humankind back to the most basic and primitive survivalism and desperation, can set the advance of reason over faith back another thousand years. So if all bodes well and the NEwWOrldOrder doesn't completely incinerate populations into nuclear dust and round up the living into corporate slaves within 100 years, then our grandchildren should be O.K.
