Conversations with what "people from China"? Sounds like you're quoting the official line. Which has got nothing to do with reality. You are aware that Chinese authorities' (and don't forget China is a dictatorship!) policy is to downplay the Falun Gong's rise, growth, and influence, aren't you? Your "conversations with people from china" sound remarkably like that.

If the Falun Gong is so insignificant then why are their members imprisoned and executed by the thousands?

Best conservative estimates (not official Chinese estimates) put Falun Gong membership at 100 million. Minimum!
