Since 'alternative energy sources' (sunlight, bio, wind, waves, etc.) all together can't supply even 5% of our current energy requirements we will have to commit to nuclear fission and fusion! In a BIG way.

Also: when we are not dependent on fossil fuels anymore the entire Middle East, Central Asia, Russia, Norway, Venezuela, and a number of similar countries will lose their primary source of income. With all manner of huge problems arising from that.
We will have to deal with that too.
Oh, it isn't that they can't, it's simply that it's cheaper to go with oil or nuclear. All of the forms of energy we have ever used on this rock are simply part of the chain that begins with those alternatives you mentioned. It's cheaper for us to buy into the middleman's product (fossil fuels) than develop our own production chains.
