They aren't people; they are merely made up of people. Why should an entire corporation suffer for the crimes of a few people in it? People can be easily replaced in a company, but if the entire company is sued and taken down, how many jobs will be lost?
One of the benefits of incorporation is it shields the owner (stock holders) from personal liability for the actions of the business they own. This is accomplished by shifting the legal liability from the stock holders to the corporation. If you want to protect the corporation from liability you need to shift the liability back to the owners again.
Surely the language in this ruling will be fuzzy enough to allow corporations the greatest protection and benefit possible. All responsibility will but deflected from stockholder, board of directors, and the corporation in general.
Remember, this is a corporate oligarchy that we are living in. If any fault is to be had, it will be to the common citizen. Any damages will be paid for by the tax payer and not from the corporation in question. If a corporation is made to pay a fine, it will merely be temporary until the tax payers forget about it, in which case politicians will transfer wealth back to the corporations.
If you have a decent amount of money to invest. I would give this advice to you:
Start a business. It doesnt matter what kind it is. Then use that money to invest in a politician. Dont be picky. Take half of that money and give it to the Republicans, take the other half and give it to the democrats. This way whoever wins you still win. Once your politician investment is in office, come to collect. Watch how quick you get no bid contracts with huge amounts of profit.
Stow some of the profit away for your future political investment. In 3 years take that investment money, split it in half, and buy the Republican and democrat party again.
