It won't help, that is for sure, however I don't think that you care beyond signing a petition, which is in reality, doing nothing but adding a name to something that matters little.
Quote:Petitions had actually been effective many times in the past. Amnesty International does a lot of petition and letter writting just as an international pressure. Either way you do what you can, Nobody can run into a country and hoping you can liberate them. I sure as hell wish I could do it. You do what you can even if it is as little as a petition. You aren't the only one signing. The least it can do is to make it clear to the country's leader and to the international community that people do not agree with this policy because it is hateful, inhumane, and a violation of human rights.Well, you can use only political means to stop a country from doing something.
Countries like Iran only understand measures like a blockade, and some countries do not even understand if you blockade them for years, and their people are on the verge of starvation, and still won't back down unless you do tell them things through the language of cold steel and hot lead.
Like for example, my brethren in Eastern Turkestan are suffering under the Chinese regime. Even if I sign a thousand petitions, they won't be free, unless we free them. We've thrown ourselves against their embassies, and faced our own police who protected them. Did it do any good?
No. But we did something beyond simply signing a petition from far away that will go somewhere we do not have any power, and where our words count for little.
