All it takes is isolation and the desire to find the Truth.

I explained my own path somewhat. First I withdrew from society, a few years later all my inhibitions were cast off like old, worn-out clothes, then even my impulses were snuffed out leaving me an empty shell. After that....something happened, and I was filled.

You could live in a cave like Muhammad, go into the desert like Jesus, into the jungle like Gotama, into a burial chamber/pyramid like the Egyptians or Irish, or you could just lock yourself in a room for an extended period of time. The beautiful thing about the 21st Century, is that you don't need to go into the desert to withraw from society, it's quite easy to become invisible in modern capitalist society. I still lived in a city, I just had no social relations whatsoever, and this situation is more and more common among, in particular, Western male youths.

Or, to put it in other words, the society you and I live in, has made direct personal experience of God as easy as it could be. And that's not even going into the conditioning that we are subjected to on a daily basis (the prevalence of myth in popular culture implants a specific "alchemical" code into the subconscious, all that's needed is a trigger to initiate the transformative process)

That trigger can be anything, just wait around long enough and it'll happen.

There's obviously more to it than that, the point is, you don't need anything else, it's already been done for you.
