Indeed. It doesn't stop at science either. Others absolutely need to believe that they have a valid and sound argument for the existence of their god, because if they don't, then what? They simply cannot consider that a god is under no obligation to comply with logic or morality, or any other notion whose discovery or existence is a product of human inquiry or fabrication. They simply cannot help but to tell god what it can and cannot be based upon the filters of their own, very human, understanding. Their god is a slave to whatever we discover, whatever we can demonstrate, whatever we can argue. This is a hollow shell of faith, and a hollow shell of a god. Had they allowed for a greater god, it wouldn't have been so easy for us to discount it completely as soon as we began to look.
