Respect has to be earned, MysticKnight. It cannot just be given out because we "feel" we're under some obligation to do so.
Mutual respect or tolerance is addressing another issue altogether.
I have deep respect for my mother, who is a Christian, not because of her beliefs but for her trials and tribulations. While I appreciate we often quarrel and bicker, she's worked damn bloody hard her whole life, and brought my sisters and I up with relatively no help in the face of adversity and persecution from our fucked up relatives and anti-social neighbours.
