Why is that an important question?
The name of the Christ is I am, not Jesus. There is no limit one should impose on the self beyond I am. To pledge fealty to the words of previous prophets is to deny the causality of prophethood and thus limit god. You wanna go there?
All prophets, of necessity and by definition are atheists; not in the sense of "lack of belief in god" but rather in the sense of "lack of belief that the words of the speakers of god still apply."
