No, hope doesn't abandon someone who knows their future is unwritten and that their actions are their own. Theres always the promise of change dictated by decisions that define the essence of who they are.
Hope abandons someone who relinquishes their free will to another, imaginary or otherwise. Their story is already written, their actions not their own. You are a slave, restrained by mind forged shackles. No more defined by your actions than any other puppet would be. There can be no hope for you as long as this is the case.
An atheist who believes in freewill, well, as for my hope it's with the Creator of the universe, I am a slave, not by a shackled mind, by a mind and heart set free through the love of my God.
God loves those who believe and those who do not and the same goes for me, you have no choice in this matter. That puts the matter of total free will to rest.
