Yes, it does involve a lot of anxiety and all of us who suffer from it are terrified of attacks and avoid them as much as possible. However, with CBT, you are handling it in a controlled way. It really might make a huge difference for you. Please keep us updated.
Yeah I kinda do my own CBT as well. Not by choice, but necessity. I am very paranoid because of a violent home invasion attempt a couple years ago, so when I'm in the rough areas I get very paranoid that something will happen--and I work 3rd shift in a rough area.
After the attempted break in, I went out and bought a 9mm pistol. I go shoot fairly regularly, and just a couple months ago got my CCW permit so I can carry it on me. It's amazing how much it has helped my anxiety just knowing that if I'm caught in a situation where I need to defend myself that I can have it on me to do so. I hope I never have to, but it helps to know that if a dude pulls a gun on me it'll be a level playing field.
