Hehe, half-breeds?. Is anyone else getting the feeling that J.K. Rowling based her character Voldemort on mehmet?
It's really weird, people have often suggested that I look like voldemort.
However, the concept is very old, dating back to the days of the Seljuks.
Back then, half-breeds were called "ighdish", meaning, emancipated, they were not allowed to hold high positions in the army, or even be part of a mounted vanguard. Theirs was the basic duty of foot archery, same as an unmarried Turk who did not own a horse. They were also expected to lead a charge to soften up the enemy, they were the equivalents of the "forlorn hope" of old Turkish armies.
Quote:Hmm, in a nutshell. There were/are Celtic people in Turkey too. Very widespread. Not too widespread, but still left their mark in Anatolia. They too were gradually absorbed into the Greek identity afterwards, and have no real relevance to the Greeks of today. I've yet to meet a greek that vaguely resembles a celtic person. They(at least most of them) still look like the guys from the ancient greek pottery.
Quote:Germanic people originally from Northern Germany who migrated to Britain, obviously.Obviously not. The english are a social construct. They are the mongrel breeds of Germanic peoples, consisting of Anglo-Saxons, Saxons, Danes, Latinized Northerners(Normans), Latins and various peoples of Celtic heritages.
Quote:Mehmet, it's really very simple: you're clearly not prepared to accept that racism & nationalism cause harm in spite of repeated explanations and encouragement to learn more about the position you hold. Until you realise that you have a lot to learn, I don't see the value in discussing your views on race any further with you. You've already embarrased yourself and in spite of what you think to be true, the whole of humanity is lucky that your views are in the minority, globally.Indeed, I have a lot to learn, but I do not know what you can really teach me anything of value about things I'd like to learn about.
I have nothing to be embarressed about, if I did, I would leave these forums in shame. As I see that my position still stands correct, leaves me with the thought that it is you who have shamed yourself by trying to shame me at every chance, whether I have said anything that could be considered shameful or not, and I know I have not.
In spite of what I, or what you like to think, the whole of humanity is still deeply loyal to their own tribes. This loyalty in itself is nothing but racism, but due to the false connections that are associated with this word, thanks to the efforts of some self-righteous do-gooders, communists, socialists and capitalists, have made efforts to eliminate the concept of ethnicity, race and culture associated with it, in order to better enslave the less fortunate nations of the world.
Capitalism does this by being against the concept of individual tribes as to better economically emancipate other nations, while international socialism and communism does this to socially and culturally dominate other nations, under the guise of "liberating the working class", undermining values and whatnot. We've already tried these concepts before, and we know how destructive they are.
