I'm from the UK also, and although it very easy to critisise the government on, well lets face it pretty much everything. A nationalised health system even though it has its downsides is a good thing.
Unfortunately the system sometimes gets abused by those not "contributing". For example I worked with a Nigerian guy who had moved to the UK. An absolutely fantastic guy, very friendly and a great laugh.
He mentioned that his aunty was ill in Nigeria and as she couldnt afford health care at home, so he was flying her in to get her treated here in the UK. I do not wish ill health on anyone, but thats abusing the system and one of the reasons it suffers in the way it does.
