When it comes to absolutes, the only thing I can think of is mathematics. 1+1 is indeed 2 and nothing else, but as we know, christians have an odd way of counting, making 1+1+1 equal 1.. But where did it come from? Well, from humans of course, because mathematics is after all merely a tool for us to express the world as we see it. What else came from humans? Why, the riddiculous concept of religion, of course.
As for morals coming from a higher power, that's just absurd. It is something to be found in our DNA, nurtured by the society we live in, thus the different points of view. Morals are after all based upon opinion, though there will always be those who think that their opinions are a little bit better, just because they have an imaginary friend.
When I was young, there was a god with infinite power protecting me. Is there anyone else who felt that way? And was sure about it? but the first time I fell in love, I was thrown down - or maybe I broke free - and I bade farewell to God and became human. Now I don't have God's protection, and I walk on the ground without wings, but I don't regret this hardship. I want to live as a person. -Arina Tanemura
