Actually I thought common knowledge was acknowledgement that death is unavoidable. Religion just offers a reassuring lie, it cannot in any way change reality. If there is no continued existence after death, then that's that. Regardless of any promises made.
Thing is, everything always comes back to death when it comes to religion. Which highlights the fear of death. The only way to continue living is through technology, religion cannot help, it only offers lies to give comfort. That's it.
