I don't know who is the more absurd,the true religious believer or the naive idealist.
It's probably true enough to say the rich will survive,as long as it is understood the rich survivors will be a new batch of rich people,not the original mob.
The way things are going,homo sapiens will probably be extinct much sooner than later. Any species stupid enough to shit in its own nest to the extent we do will not survive long term and does not deserve to.
