You sound charming, in a Mary Poppins fashion (compliment). Your friend comes off as a bit of a cunt. Tell him to fuck off and take his imaginary friends with him.

If he is truly the 'great guy' you suggest, he will get the message, not bother you with religion and your relationship can chug along as normal.
