Well, for what it's worth, I'll try to sum up what I think is the most accurate vision possible of Obama's religion:
* His parents were irreligious.
* He worked with black churches as a twenty-something, and was impressed enough that he joined one.
* He was baptised in 1988 at Trinity Church in Chicago, and went there until Jeremiah Wright proved to be too embarrassing a pastor.
* In his own word: "I am a Christian, and I am a devout Christian. I believe in the redemptive death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. I believe that that faith gives me a path to be cleansed of sin and have eternal life."
* Conclusion: he is a Christian, albeit a theologically liberal one.
