Mr Hitchens once stood up in front of a big audience in Australia and mocked the Patriarch Abraham as an illiterate goat hearder.
And he got a lot of laughs from the "some sort of ignorance" crowd.
But the only people laughing were folk who were ignorant of the fact that Abraham and is family were from - perhaps the largest city in the world at that time - Ur in Mesopotamia.
...where writing was invented!
Your fucking bible specifies
"King James Bible (Cambridge Ed.)
And Terah took Abram his son, and Lot the son of Haran his son's son, and Sarai his daughter in law, his son Abram's wife; and they went forth with them from Ur of the Chaldees, to go into the land of Canaan; and they came unto Haran, and dwelt there."
Gen 11:31
The Chaldeans did not arrive in the area until after 1,000 BC which means that "this" Ur had nothing to do with the creation of cuneiform and sure as shit was not one of the largest cities in the world.
Wait.
Are you saying that writing was well established long before Abraham and Terah?
Good. I agree. Thanks.
