Most of them were born after Caesar's death, some by over a hundred years. The earliest copies of the chronicles of Julius Caesar date to the 900s AD. I think people embellished his assassination over all those years.
Lucius Cassius Dio Cocceianus
Gaius Suetonius Tranquilus
Lucius Mestrius Plutarchus
Appian of Alexandria
Marcus Velleius Paterculus
Publius Annius Florus
Politicians:
Marcus Tullius Cicero
Gaius Octavius Caesar
Writers:
Publius Vergilius Maro
All of the above mentioned the assassination of Julius Caesar in one context or another.
They may very well have done precisely that. To be honest, some embellishment is expected. Now what? Would you be willing to make this concession for your fairies?
