Just like it will in 2012.Actually Y2K was a real computing problem brought about by many computer systems using 2 digits to store the year rather than 4 (99 rather than 1999). Since many computers used these dates in calculations, they needed to increase by 1 as the year passed. This worked for every year prior to 2000, but on the Millennium the year went from 99 to 00, putting out all the calculations by -99.
But I'm still going to stock up on canned goods and weapons.
Only a few systems were affected in the end, due to some clever people spotting the problem beforehand and encouraging system upgrades that used 4 digits rather than 2.
