Everyone's heard of the misconception about atheists that we're 'angry at god,' right? Well, in my case, it started out that way. I went through a very painful point in my life and I couldn't find an answer I could bring myself to believe when I asked how god could allow it to happen.
Since then, though, I've had a deal with any supernatural being out there: prove to me that you exist and I'll serve you. So far, nobody has taken me up on that offer, so I see no reason to believe in any supernatural being.
