My first date with my bf started with him luring me to drink a bottle of tequila and the date continued on for 24 hours. But I don't think that's a strategy that works for everyone.. 
The only advice I can give that holds true in every situation is be yourself. If you go on a date with a girl/guy that you potentially want to see more of, it's vital that you don't fake anything in the beginning. It's better to realize from the get-go if you are compatible or not than to find it out later.
