Although, I do already have a contact or two in DC and my brother lives in southern VA (Newport News).

I live just across the bay from San Francisco in Berkeley. You could come to dinner a bunch and we can put you a up for a couple days if that helps. Eventually I hope to have a guest cottage in the garden but for the time being there is only a guest room. My wife Lia and I find house guests too inhibiting to our natural style of taking all our frustrations out on each other for a longer stay. (We don't either of us take it personally but this is the way we cope.) Plus we tend to parade around in a state of complete undress whenever the weather permits - so most of the time. And Lia works at odd hours, sometimes noisily in the studio. Do come visit though. We can behave ourselves for short bursts.
