Jep. Civilisation is maintained.
To argue that human life is worth nothing "when civilisation fails" is useless theoreticising over things which do not matter.
When will civilisation no longer be maintained?
After global warming, when I can book a scubadiving tour of Holland? When zombies roam the planet? When nuclear war comes? When the nazis resurect a cyborg Göring? When the Borg attack? After the Chinese have enslaved us? When the Germans are coming?
Should any of these or other apocalyptic event occure, I shall consider the concept of social darwinism to save my own ass.
