Interesting that the immediate reaction to a disembodied voice speaking about stabbing you is that it must be God, isn't it? It's like I often say, you don't worship this god so much as fear it.
Also, to borrow a popular contemporary phrase: Citation needed. I outgrew stories involving anonymous and generic characters before I even started school, even if others find them convincing.
