I know it is just a joke. And it is absolutely true that we all have thoughts we wont act on, nor should, and there is nothing wrong with South Park type humor.
Same dark humor was done after the shuttle crashes.
Yet this still does not solve our economic problems and social problems and gun violence problems.
And while joking is a healthy coping mechanism, still 32 people a day die from gun use and still today America leads in the most number of mass shootings.
Not saying don't joke. Just don't allow the jokes to gloss over a very real and harsh reality.
And in all seriousness as much as I would love to bitch slap WBC, civil society cannot involve harming people merely because we find what they say vile. That is what theocracies and dictatorships do.
If we all got physically hurt or kill people we hate we'd all be in prison.
I know I am commenting with a "NO DUH". But I still think it bears repeating because of the sensitive nature of the event.
But also at the same time I do understand the feeling behind the dark humor.
