Not as generalizing as it might seem at first glance. I was specific about them being Christians who visit this forum, and I said it's rare, not completely absent. When it happens, we respond well. Who'd a thunk it? I'm not one of those atheists who joins a theist forum to have a go at getting them to think critically about their beliefs, and most Christians aren't the Christians who join an atheist forum hoping someone will be reached by their posts.
There's a difference between trying and failing and failing to try. We're not talking about an 'oops, slipped up, sorry about that, my humanity got the best of me'. We're not talking about someone who usually takes an unkind or even unfair jab in good grace, and occasionally shows a bit of temper. We don't expect Christians to be perfectly Christ-like, that would be unreasonble. If they really believe what they're saying, though, it should be evident that they're trying. I'm not sure most of them really believe they should turn the other cheek and love their enemies, though.
I'll give you four stars as a good example of the best of Christianity in comparison to our current Catholic du jour, though.
