A gaming rig, for the same price as a console system, will always be more powerful. And the PC isn't locked away from upgrades after it's released when the console owners are stuck with the same aging hardware for 5 years i'm throwing in a new GPU or another stick of RAM and running any game at the maximum possible specifications. Gaming on a PC brings so much more detail and definition to the game, opposed to the slightly-blurred-to-look-smooth style of console games.
No, the xbox 360 is better than a pc of the same price for gaming. You could spend $2000 easilly on a gaming pc, but for the price of an xbox, I have yet to see a good PC of any kind.
Xbox 360 Pro 60GB = $250
PC Core2Duo E4400 + Motherboard + 2GB RAM + 9600GT 512 + Case/PSU + 200GB HDD = $258.33
That PC, a mid/low end gaming rig, would absolutely demolish the 360 as well as performing loads more functions, having more storage space and being able to play newer generations of games without compromising quality for console compatibility (done far more often than you'd like to admit).
