By trying to keep the law, you expose yourself as truly lawless disobedient, ungodly, a sinner, unholy, profane, and so forth
"But now apart from the law the righteousness of God has been made known, to which the Law and the Prophets testify. This righteousness is given through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe." Romans 3:21-22
"We know that the law is good if one uses it properly." 1 Timothy 1:8
You see, for all God-fearing Christians, the law does not apply. The righteousness in us powered by the Holy Spirit makes us immune to any law of the land.
So much for you debating tactic....

in rare cases, I may need to reference the Good Book.
ok, I'll let you have this one rare case.
OT: The thing with "the law of the land" is that it applies to everyone in the land where that law is in action.
Anyone is free to abstain from following the law... But if you're caught in that land, you'll have to answer for it.
If you manage to escape a particular country to avoid the law of that country, you may still be in jeopardy, given that there are some international protocols for cooperation between the authorities.
So, yeah... be my guest to go against "the law of the land"... but be ready to pay the consequences.
