padraic I have not been in touch with him for years but I have heard rumors that he eventually left the church. Spanish Pentecostal churches tend to be very fundamental and people like my ex ministry partner are not uncommon. Faith healing and exorcisms were everyday occurrences in the churches I frequented and congregations I used to preach to. They tend to be what I termed miracle mongers.
There have been studies done on faith healing and in these studies the practice has been affectionately labeled by the scientifically minded "faith killing". I personally knew a man in my home church who died of a hernia! He refused to get an operation because he was afraid to go under the knife. All the while his hernia continued to grow and he posited all of his faith in God and expected a miraculous recovery that never came. It seems like Oregon has a huge problem with the faith healing trend.
