Maybe because you as a Muslim are specifically forbidden from befriending Christians.
Qu'ran (5:51) - "O you who believe! do not take the Jews and the Christians for friends; they are friends of each other; and whoever amongst you takes them for a friend, then surely he is one of them; surely Allah does not guide the unjust people."
Sure the Qu'ran calls the Jews and Christians people of the book, but what that actually delineates is a second class status. So Christians and Jews get to keep their religion as long as they pay extra tax and don't mind being second class citizens. Meanwhile everyone else, all the Atheists and polytheists have to convert or be put to the sword. To deny this is to deny what your own religion says.
