Precisely. And, like any mental chemical, they could change at any moment, and both you and your significant other could utterly despise each other.
Love is not an illusion in that it doesn't exist. The security that comes with love, the mutual caring-- the things which make love meaningful--are illusory because they're determined entirely by random variables beyond human control which have no loyalty to anyone.
In effect, the momentary feeling is real, but the popular concept is worthless.
