The modern take on sexuality, any sexuality, is that it is determined by a combination of genetics, brain structure, and environmental pressures. It's no one thing. Almost all respectable medical organisations that study the subject agree that sexual orientation is a natural, intrinsic aspect of individual people. It can't be chosen, and the mere fact that people are just now beginning to politically fight for equality does not make orientation political in its nature. That would be something that requires proving.
If you believe it, question it. If you question it, get an answer. If you have an answer, does that answer satisfy reality? Does it satisfy you? Probably not. For no one else will agree with you, not really.
