Put it this way, there is no more evidence for the existence of God than there is for the existence of highly advanced alien life that takes on the same role. Every piece of evidence cited for God, such as design in nature, "miracles", and whatever else they throw at us, has a perfectly rational explanation, and when it doesn't (yet), there is nothing to distinguish it from the work of advanced beings rather than omnipotent ones.
